The Canadian Reiki Association

The Canadian Reiki Association (CRA) was established in 1997 as a federally charted and governed non-profit association. Its mission is to register and represent all professional Reiki Practitioners and Teachers practicing in all sales of Reiki across the country and to Uphold the highest standards of Reiki within our Communities.

Complementary healing modalities, such as Reiki, are not regulated by the Canadian government and as such, they need to be self-regulated. The CRA provides its members with a place to come together and form a national voice dedicated to the best Reiki practices in Canada. Our members adhere to the highest ethical and educational standards in the country and are committed to enlighten and educating our communities regarding its benefits.

All CRA members must provide certification indicating that they have successfully completed a minimum level one Reiki Class done in person and not online. Our membership feels that Reiki needs to be learned In person with a qualified Reiki Master Teacher. As such, this was written into our by-laws. The CRA cannot accept any form of online training. Additionally, our members are not allowed to provide online training classes to their students regardless of what CRA designation they hold (this includes a combination of online and in-person training). Doing so will immediately terminate their membership and result in a lifetime ban from the Association.

The CRA Scope of Practice outlines the boundaries of a Reiki session. When used in conjunction with our Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Action Policy, our members are able to offer the highest level of professionalism and provide a safe, positive environment for their clients.

All CRA Registered Teachers are required to adhere to the CRA Educational Guidelines. Teachers must have their class outlines approved by a Board members before they are registered. They must teach in person and must give their students a certificate upon completion of each level. CRA teachers are expected to provide a minimum 8 hour class for each level one, two and Master Practicioner (if applicable) class. Master Teacher classes are expected to be at least 12 hours in duration.

The Directory on the CRA website allows members of the public to find a Registered Practitioner or Registered Teacher in their area who is devoted to providing the best Reiki experience possible. Our members have agreed to abide by our highest standards, so clients can be confident that they will be dealt with ethically and in a compassionate manner. The community also has the added security of knowing there is an association they can bring their concerns to should any issues arise.
